This section of Chapter 9 explains, probably better than any other, how the poor and disabled are railroaded by family. How the wishes of loved ones who pass, even when written down, are not honored. How lawyers can send subliminal messages in a court where they are known. How property is valued more than people. And, how mental illness, though perhaps undiagnosed, is expressed in religious people. People with disabilities are truly the low rung in society. And yet Amanda, a tower of strength, a firey wit, a heart of gold, and a brain that snaps with truth, is shot down and trampled by those she adores. But she still manages to immediately forgive and love them.
