Unfortunately my recording blanked out during the section about Este. First, you have to understand that even by the time this picture was taken in 2013, Este had aleady performed and met thousands of people in her short lifetime. The story tells about how Este reacted when meeting my sister, Rose. (the second R.) I have never seen Este react this way to a person, before or since.
The picture of Amanda and Este with their matching heads was one I took in “our apartment” during the days following our Dad’s death. Este is extremely gregarious. In fact she and Amanda are a lot alike! They both are cute, funny, love people and FOOD. Este was socialized out the wazoo as from the time she was about ten weeks old, she was touring in a high speed performance show with a bunch of dogs. She learned to run the course and could do it faster than some of the big dogs. She has traveled all over the east coast and down through Florida and North Carolina. She is now retired from the stage and lives with me in the far north of Michigan. Este is now 13 years old and still going strong. She makes sure her breakfast IS NOT LATE. EVERY DAY.
Seiously, Chihuahuas have been bred over many years (thousands) to be companion dogs. Companionship is their job. Este has excelled at this. During the worst days of my life, she has provided me much comfort, and also offered the same to Amanda and my Dad as well. I am forever grateful for this mighty heart in a tiny package.
